The most popular lottery game in the United States of America, Powerball, had two jackpot winners in February 2012.

On Saturday 11 February 2012, Louise White form Rhode Island won $ 336,400,000. Louise won the third largest Powerball jackpot at the age of 81.

Louise received a net payment of $ 209,966,435.24 after the deduction of state and federal tax. A newly formed entity, Rainbow Sherbert Trust, received the payment from the lottery operator. The Trust was named after the snack (Rainbow Sherbet) she bought together with the winning lottery ticket.

Louise checked her lottery numbers later after the Powerball lottery draw. When she realised that her lottery ticket contained the five winning numbers and the Powerball number, she yelled: "Is anybody awake? I want you to come look at something!". Louise celebrated with her family and immediately signed her lottery ticket and placed it in her white Bible, and later in a bank's safety deposit box.

Another winner won the $ 70,000,000 Powerball jackpot on Saturday 25 February 2012. The winner has not yet claimed his/her prize.

In February, 38 winners won a 2nd prize of $ 1,000,000 each. The 2nd prize is won by correctly guessing five numbers.
